The plaintiffs, two Munich-based publishing companies, initiated proceedings against the defendant, after its AI Overview feature generated and displayed summaries linking the plaintiffs to fraudulent schemes, subscription traps, and other allegedly dishonest business practices. The plaintiffs argued that these statements were false and seriously damaged their commercial reputation and corporate personality rights. The defendant contended that the AI-generated overviews merely reflected information from third-party sources and should be treated similarly to traditional search results.
