Incumbent president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of the Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT) party is seeking another four-year term. The other main candidates running for president are Ronaldo Caiado of the Partido Social Democrático (PSD), Renan Santos of the Missão party, and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro of Partido Liberal.
If no presidential candidate receives more than 50% of the vote in the first round, a runoff election will be held on 25 October 2026.
Brazil has a bicameral National Congress comprising the upper house Federal Senate, which has 81 members who serve eight-year terms, and lower house Chamber of Deputies, which has 513 members serving four-year terms.
In the 2026 election, 54 seats in the Federal Senate and all seats in the Chamber of Deputies are up for election.
Brazil has a population of around 214 million and 159 million registered voters. In the 2022 election, voter turnout was 79%.
