The President is elected in a single round using a first-past-the-post-system.
Gambia has a unicameral National Assembly consisting of 58 members who serve five-year terms and are elected within single-seat constituencies using first-past-the-post.
Gambia has a population of around 2.8 million and 1 million registered voters. Turnout in the 2021 presidential election was 89%.
