New Zealand will be holding a general election on 7 November 2026.

Incumbent Prime Minister Christopher Luxon of the National Party leads the coalition government comprising of the National Party, ACT party and New Zealand First party.

New Zealand has a unicameral House of Representatives with 120 members who serve three-year terms. Members are elected through the mixed member proportional voting system.

It is compulsory to enrol to vote if a citizen or resident is eligible to vote and lives in New Zealand.  

New Zealand has a population of around 5.3 million and 3.6 million registered voters. In the 2023 election, voter turnout was 83%.
