Zambia is due to hold presidential and legislative elections on 13 August 2026.

The country has a unicameral National Assembly. In 2025, a change to the constitution introduced a mixed member proportional representation system with 226 members of the National Assembly elected via the first past the post system; 40 members elected by proportional representation based on the share of total votes a party receives; up to 11 members.

Incumbent President Hakainde Hichilema of the UPND party is seeking a second term.

Zambia has a population of around 22 million and 8.8 million registered voters, Turnout in the 2021 election was 71%.
