Keiko Fujimori of the Popular Force party won the Presidential election in the runoff with 50.1% of the vote and will serve a five-year term. The main opposition candidate Roberto Sánchez of Together for Peru party received 49.8% of the vote.
Voting is mandatory for citizens aged between 18 and 70.
Peru is returning to being a bicameral legislature following a constitutional amendment in 2024. The bicameral legislature will comprise a 60-seat Senate and 130-seat Chamber of Deputies.
Peru has a population of around 35 million and 27 million registered voters. In the 2026 election, voter turnout was 71.9%.
